Local Community Radio Station Stakes Major Claim on Front Range Media Landscape

August 27, 2014

KGNU, an independent, noncommercial, community radio station located in Boulder, recently launched AfterFM, an online all-music channel and News.KGNU.org, a news portal.

With support from Voqal Fund, the new enhancements help KGNU to both build its audience base and address the increasing migration of radio listening from broadcast to online.

The success of one of the projects, AfterFM, allowed KGNU to greatly extend its coverage of this year’s recent sold-out RockyGrass bluegrass festival in Lyons by providing a dedicated stream of the festival. The first festival at Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons since the destructive 2013 Colorado floods, the KGNU AfterFM stream provided a weekend of inspirational performances and testimonials to the greater community of Lyons and the Front Range.
