The Voqal Fund is excited to announce two new grants to organizations working in the Twin Cities area to enhance the community and strengthen social equity. The grants to FairVote Minnesota and TakeAction Minnesota reflect the Voqal Fund’s commitment to support progressive movements for social change.

FairVote Minnesota
FairVote Minnesota works for better democracy through public education and advocacy. It focuses on progressive voting systems that lead to greater competitiveness, better representation and more participation in elections. Building on its success in Minneapolis and St. Paul, it is working to pass a local options bill and expand Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in other Minnesota communities. Thanks to the support of the Voqal Fund, FairVote Minnesota will be able to continue its efforts at closing disparity gaps, giving voters more choice and fostering civil campaigns to decrease the role of money in elections.

TakeAction Minnesota
TakeAction Minnesota is a statewide network of people working to realize racial and economic equity across Minnesota. With support from the Voqal Fund, TakeAction will use digital communication strategies to identify, recruit and mobilize constituencies that have been marginalized in Minnesota’s political arena. It will deploy this grassroots base to advance policy changes in the state legislature that restore the vote to people with criminal records and guarantee earned sick time for all Minnesota workers.
