2016 Voqal Annual Report - Taking Risks

Voqal is proud to announce the release of its first-ever annual report. Fiscal year 2016 was an exciting period for Voqal as we took calculated risks in our efforts to fulfill the mission of EBS and create a more engaged and informed public.

Our 2016 annual report highlights these efforts and how at Voqal we take an independent and assertive approach to our commitment to serve the public. On the education front, Voqal funded the popular Crash Course U.S. Government and Politics series and invested in three organizations working to address the opportunity gap through the Education Venture Fund. Meanwhile, the Voqal Fellowship and the Voqal Fund continued taking risks on progressive change-makers and organizations like Nikki Zeichner and New Media Ventures. The report also includes an update on Mobile Citizen’s successful efforts at bridging the digital divide by providing internet to individuals, schools and nonprofits. Finally, through Independent Spectrum, Voqal continued to help educational institutions like Holy Cross Catholic School utilize their valuable EBS spectrum.

As strong advocates of an educated and empowered public, we are honored to have had the opportunity to support so many organizations and individuals who have contributed to important advances in social equity in 2016. As we move forward into the coming year, we hope to continue to take the calculated risks needed to support progressive change-makers and further advance social equity.
