Applications Now Open for the 2020 Voqal Fellowship

Applications are now open for the 2020 Voqal Fellowship. The Voqal Fellowship is a talent accelerator aimed at giving underrepresented social entrepreneurs a chance to enact their visions at center stage. The Fellowship provides a $30,000 stipend and six months to work on an early-stage idea.

“In this continually changing political and social environment, we look forward to supporting another cohort of progressive entrepreneurs as they develop big, innovative ideas aimed at creating a more socially equitable world,” said Voqal Grantmaking Director Brenda Williams-Sears.

The Fellowship is designed to further progressive, social justice-oriented causes. Ideal candidates are social justice-oriented leaders, thinkers, doers and believers who have a big idea for a new way to organize communities — for a new way to bring about equitable social change. Any progressive idea is allowed, so long as it addresses a specific issue and the applicant can explain how the idea will address the issue through an equity lens.

Voqal centers the Fellowship around multiple levels of storytelling. This approach allows each Fellow the opportunity to connect with any audience of any size and to showcase why they, as an individual, have the experience and knowledge to enact their vision for a better future.

Applicants should have an idea for an early-stage project. Fellows must treat these six months as a sabbatical and refrain from full-time work. At the conclusion of the Fellowship, all Fellows will be required to prepare a final presentation that demonstrates growth and learning.
