Open Position: Voqal Accounting Manager

Voqal is currently looking for an Accounting Manager (remote – CO) to join our dynamic, growing team.

Voqal is headquartered in beautiful Longmont, Colorado however we are a primarily remote workforce. The Accounting Manager role is primarily a remote position also, but there is a small chance the Accounting Manager may need to come into the office on a rare occasion and for this reason the individual needs to live within Colorado.


The Accounting Manager supports the operations of Voqal by planning, directing, and executing the daily accounting activities of the company and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

Duties may include establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation; preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, annual budgets; production of periodic financial reports and ensure reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards; oversee outsourced preparation of all forms 990 and related state required nonprofit filings; audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations by coordinating with outside auditors and providing needed information for the annual external audit; improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions; assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy; meet financial accounting objectives; and establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5 years of Accounting Manager or similar experience.
  • Strong nonprofit accounting skills/experience – GAAP and 990.
  • Strong QuickBooks online preferred; Sage Intaact experience, and software system implementation skills preferred.
  • Familiar with integrated applications such as Expensify and
  • Technology focused – research software programs to facilitate workflow for a distributed workforce.
  • Familiar with outsourced payroll companies like Gusto and Paychex.
  • Deep commitment to social equity by decolonizing wealth and redistributing power.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is $103K. Voqal also offers a very generous benefits package including partially paid medical coverage for employees and dependents, partially paid dental and vision, paid LTD, STD, and AD&D. Paid vacation, sick, holidays, and personal time. Retirement program including profit sharing and 401K plans.
