Voqal Invests $54K in Social Equity Efforts in the Twin Cities

July 28, 2017

Voqal is pleased to announce two new grants to organizations working in the Twin Cities area to enhance the community and strengthen social equity. The grants of $30,000 to TakeAction Minnesota and $24,000 to Voices for Racial Justice reflect Voqal’s commitment to support progressive movements for social change.

TakeAction Minnesota
TakeAction Minnesota is a statewide network of people working to realize racial and economic equity across Minnesota. It does this by connecting people and organizations to each other, turning someone’s individual desire for change into the broad public action that makes change happen where it wasn’t possible going it alone. Voqal’s continued support will enable TakeAction Minnesota to use traditional and social media to build power and a voice for those who have been silenced in the public sphere, shape the public conversation to advance a more inclusive vision for Minnesota and build support for progressive candidates for governor and other elected offices in 2018.

Voices for Racial Justice
Voices for Racial Justice advances racial, cultural, social and economic justice in Minnesota through organizer and leadership training, strategic convenings and campaigns, and the creation of research and policy tools. Voqal’s support will continue to assist Voices for Racial Justice as it leads an urgent national media justice project related to surveillance on communities of color. This project and the other work of Voices for Racial Justice will lead to a stronger network of racial justice organizers working together to advance change across Minnesota communities.
