At Voqal we strongly believe in the value of not only celebrating, but also promoting the diversity of the world we live in. It’s why we continually strive to create a more socially equitable world in all that we do. Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day are great examples of celebrating that diversity. In honor of the contributions of women both within our organization and throughout our country, we’d like to share a few ways you can celebrate women leaders not just this month but throughout the year.

Get Educated

As with most things, a good starting point for celebrating women leaders is to learn more about them. There are a number of good reading lists out there that can help with this.  A few have been included below.

This is just a small sampling of the reading lists that are out there and we recommend taking a deeper look at the resources being shared in your individual networks.

Support Women-led Organizations

At Voqal we strive to support organizations and individuals that are often underrepresented by the traditional power structures in our society, including those led by women. Fortunately, anyone can support these types of organizations. Whether that’s going out of your way to shop at businesses owned by women or donating to nonprofits serving and led by women, there are many ways to celebrate women. Below are some resources you can use to help identify these organizations.

We encourage you to seek out women-led organizations in your local communities.

Support Women in the Workplace

While oftentimes celebrations like Women’s History Month focus on the great women leaders that have shaped this country in the past, it’s important to embody the spirit of the holiday in our everyday lives, especially in the workplace. Not sure how to do that? Check out the articles below to get started.

Above all else, it is important to listen to your women coworkers, and for those in leadership, to both celebrate their accomplishments and ensure company policies are not creating gender inequities.

Celebrations like Women’s History Month are a great way to highlight the accomplishments of both the women who have been integral throughout this nation’s history and those that are currently leading the way to create the future we envision. Voqal is committed to promoting gender equity and looks forward to making continued strides in this area as we continue our work to create a more socially equitable world for all.
