The Voqal Fund is pleased to announce new grants to four organizations working in the Denver area to enhance the community and strengthen social equity. The grants to Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network, Colorado Immigrant Funders Collaborative, ACLU of Colorado and Great Education Colorado Fund reflect the Voqal Fund’s commitment to supporting progressive movements for social change.
Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network
The Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN) works to ensure justice for men and women in immigration detention and for immigrant children who have suffered from abuse, neglect or violence. Thanks to support from Voqal, RMIAN will continue to ensure justice at the Denver International Airport, prepare for the profound and devastating impact of the current Executive Orders and those still to come, and will partner with several organizations to offer a free legal training on Children’s Asylum Law and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.
Colorado Immigrant Funders Collaborative
The Colorado Immigrant Funders Collaborative (CIFC) assists immigrant-serving organizations with building capacity to support outreach, education and legal services across Colorado. Thanks in part to support from Voqal, CIFC will fund the work of organizations engaged in work aimed at ensuring the continued safety and welcome of immigrants and refugees in Colorado in 2017 and beyond.
ACLU of Colorado
The ACLU of Colorado advances and defends the civil rights and civil liberties of Coloradans by pursuing a legislative and advocacy agenda across a range of issues, focused primarily on protecting the state’s most vulnerable communities. Thanks to support from Voqal, it will enact an agenda to defeat efforts that would infringe on fundamental rights and liberties by working directly with legislators and other elected officials. It will also focus on mobilizing ACLU members, online activists, community leaders and grassroots activists to engage in this work.
Great Education Colorado
Great Education Colorado drives educational excellence for all Colorado students by harnessing the power of grassroots activism and stimulating wise investment in Colorado’s public schools, colleges and universities. Thanks to support from Voqal, Great Education Colorado will establish feedback loops within key communities to ensure the work is informed by the views and concerns of all constituencies. The work will also build toward a broader, long-term movement for fiscal reform.
