Voqal Fund Announces Grants to Denver Organizations

January 20, 2016

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Colorado and Together Colorado have both recently been awarded grants from Voqal Fund. These grants build upon Voqal’s commitment to support progressive movements for social change.

ACLU of Colorado
An affiliate of the national ACLU, the mission of the ACLU Colorado is to protect, defend and extend the civil rights and liberties of all people in Colorado through litigation, education and advocacy. The group works to tell the stories of individuals whose rights have been violated, while ensuring that the rights of people from all walks of life are protected and respected.

With support from the Voqal Fund, the ACLU of Colorado will work to fulfill its legislative agenda in three key areas: privacy and data security, criminal justice reform and defending and advancing civil rights for groups that are frequent targets of discrimination.

Together Colorado
Together Colorado is a non-partisan, multi-racial, multi-faith community organization helping people transform their communities through community organizing. Comprised of 60+ congregations, schools and youth committees, Together Colorado works to build a moral and democratic voice in Colorado through a racial and economic lens.

Support from Voqal Fund will help Together Colorado’s efforts to win passage of a minimum wage ballot measure in 2016. Toward this goal, Together Colorado will engage in coalition building, polling and focus groups, ballot filing, legal challenge process, language finalization and signature collection.
