Voqal is pleased to announce five grants to organizations working in the Twin Cities area to strengthen the community and promote social equity. The grants of $40,000 to Alliance for a Better Minnesota, $20,000 to Comunidades Organizando el Poder y la Accion Latina (COPAL), $15,000 to Minnesota Youth Collective, $30,000 to TakeAction Minnesota and $25,000 to Voices for Racial Justice reflect Voqal’s commitment to supporting progressive movements for social change.
Alliance for a Better Minnesota
Alliance for a Better Minnesota empowers hardworking Minnesotans by lifting up their stories and focusing on the issues that matter to them. With Voqal’s support, Alliance for a Better Minnesota helps ensure voters in Minnesota are informed about where the candidates stand on the issues they care about during the 2018 election.
Comunidades Organizando el Poder y la Accion Latina (COPAL)
COPAL unites Latinxs in Minnesota in active grassroots communal democracy that builds racial, gender, social and economic justice across community lines. With support from Voqal, COPAL is implementing a digital strategy for organizing Latinx community members to participate in the electoral process.
Minnesota Youth Collective
The Minnesota Youth Collective works to empower the next generation of leaders to take their rightful seat at the decision-making table, elect people who reflect young people’s values and shape legislation to better the lives of Minnesotans. Voqal’s grant enables the Minnesota Youth Collective to effectively use digital organizing to expand the impact of young voices in democracy through civic engagement and voting.
TakeAction Minnesota
TakeAction Minnesota unites the power of diverse individuals, communities and organizations in active grassroots democracy that builds racial, social and economic justice. Voqal’s backing helps support TakeAction Minnesota’s efforts to build a strong narrative aimed at encouraging citizen support for bold solutions to the problems Minnesota currently faces.
Voices for Racial Justice
Voices for Racial Justice builds racial justice with a deep commitment to supporting the leadership of communities of color and indigenous communities. The funding received from Voqal supports Voices for Racial Justice’s work to develop and nurture a healthy ecosystem of racial justice organizing in the lead up to the 2018 elections.
