Voqal Invests $65K to Advance Social Equity and Progressive Change in Colorado

February 16, 2018

Voqal is pleased to announce three new grants to organizations working in Colorado to enhance the community and strengthen social equity. The grants of $20,000 to ACLU of Colorado, $25,000 to Great Education Colorado and $20,000 to One Colorado reflect Voqal’s commitment to support progressive movements for social change.

ACLU of Colorado
The ACLU of Colorado is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to fulfilling the promise of equal justice under the law for all Coloradans. It works to protect, defend and extend the civil rights and civil liberties of all people in Colorado through litigation, education and advocacy. With support from Voqal, it will pursue a legislative and advocacy agenda focused on criminal justice reform, voting rights, privacy and digital security.

Great Education Colorado
Great Education Colorado is a well-respected source of information and conduit of public input to the legislature and state leaders on issues around educational resources. It drives educational excellence for all Colorado students by harnessing the power of grassroots activism and stimulating wise investment in Colorado’s public schools, colleges and universities. Voqal’s support will assist Great Education Colorado’s work to pass a 2018 school funding initiative aimed at addressing the long-standing underfunding of education in the state.

One Colorado
One Colorado is the state’s leading advocacy organization dedicated to advancing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) Coloradans and their families. It effectively advocates for LGBTQ Coloradans and their families by lobbying the General Assembly, executive branch and local governments on issues like safe schools, transgender equality, relationship recognition, and LGBTQ health and human services. With support from Voqal, One Colorado is advocating at the Colorado state legislature to ensure all protected classes (including the LGBTQ community) are protected during the reauthorization of the Colorado Civil Rights Division.

“We are proud to support these agents of social change and their work to build a brighter future for all Colorado residents,” said Voqal President, John Schwartz.
